If you are looking for an East Bay performing arts program for your child this summer, consider enrolling him or her in Stage Door Conservatory. Children (entering grades 3 – 12) with all levels of experience are welcome, including both seasoned actors, eager to continue to develop themselves as artists, and children new to theater, wishing to learn more about theater or simply express themselves creatively. As a conservatory, we offer an inspirational, uplifting, nurturing, imaginative and joyful opportunity for learning. For many, it’s “the summer of a life-time.'' Our camps are held from 9:00 AM to 3:30 or 6:00 PM daily, June 20 – August 19, in sessions of 2 – 6 weeks in length. They include Kids on Stage (grades 3 – 5), On Broadway (grades 5 – 9) and Teens on Stage (grades 8 – 12), as well as a behind-the-scenes program (BackStage) for high school students. In addition to learning the arts of singing, dance, drama and stage craft, participants rehearse and perform in a musical play. This year, On Broadway will perform 'Hairspray,'' Teens on Stage will perform ''Les Miserables (School Edition)” and our younger actors will perform in plays like ''Free to Be – You and Me.” Tuition is $325 week. In order to ensure that all children can participate, regardless of their family’s ability to pay, we will provide scholarships or financial aid to 36 children from throughout the East Bay community. Auditions are NOT required for admission to any program, however early casting for “Les Miserables” will occur in March and April for children wishing to enroll based on what role they have been selected to play.
