About 888 Monkeys Summer Arts Program
888 Monkeys is a two-week summer arts program that gives kids eight to 16 years old an opportunity to collaborate with drama, art, circus and movement professionals to create and perform their own show. The first week is spent on skill development, while the second week allows participants to choose their specialties and tackle specific show business jobs — painting flats, memorizing dialogue, creating circus acts, learning dance choreography and promoting the show.
For kids five to eight years old, 888 Monkeys offers a half-day program. Four different one-week sessions introduce younger children to performing and visual arts through games and experiential learning activities.
Kids receive professional instruction in the following arts:
Circus: juggling, Chinese yo-yo, partner acrobatics, tumbling and equilibristics
Drama: improvisation, acting, clowning and pantomime
Music: singing, rhythm and percussion
Visual: set design, scenic art and drawing
