During each summer session, students acquire Mandarin language skills and Chinese cultural knowledge through fun, immersion-based activities, including singing, Mandarin story time, Chinese dance, arts & crafts, cooking, morning exercise, Chinese calligraphy, drama and martial arts. Teachers speak in Mandarin and with their bodies, so children understand the tasks at hand. Younger children come away knowing simple Mandarin phrases, such as saying "hello" every morning or "goodbye" each afternoon. Advanced students are challenged to interact with teachers and with each other to feel more comfortable speaking Mandarin outside the classroom.
