About ¡Exploraciones! Summer Camp at Marin Preparatory
Come explore a new language experience with a different adventure every week! For nine weeks students entering Pre-K through second grade will have the opportunity to learn Spanish through experiencing first hand all the amazing things our city has to offer. Throughout the summer, we will become explorers of many engaging themes, such as animals, science, food and the beach, which include exciting fieldtrips and a variety of hands-on activities. Students will also experience a taste of Latin American culture while exploring the mission district, studying murals, cooking and taking a virtual viaje to several different Spanish-speaking countries. Each week, students create a Wordbank Book, writing and illustrating theme-related vocabulary. They will add photographs taken along their journey, then their books will be bound and laminated. The books will be sent home for everyone to proudly share with their families. Our goal is for ¡Exploraciones! to promote curiosity about the world, an appreciation for the Spanish language and diversity in its many forms. At the end of each session, students will walk away with exciting new knowledge and experiences, making this a summer to remember.
Ages served: 4 years (children who will be 5 by December 2) to 8 years of age (Transitional Kindergarteners to Second Grade)
