About Christine Brenneman’s Art Camp (Miss Christine)

At Christine Brenneman’s Art Camp (Miss Christine), kids spend each extended morning in Golden Gate Park touring the de Young Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Japanese Tea Garden and the surrounding environs learning to sketch, create and observe the details and beauty found in nature and art. Whether drawing koi in the Tea Garden or creating 3-D works in response to fine art, Art Campers will come away with a deeper understanding of looking at and making art. Campers bring a lunch each day and spend the last hour of the day at the JFK/10th Avenue playground.

My son loves Miss Christine's Art Camp. On one of his first days he came home with a really well done still life of a plate of fruit. It was on canvas and surprisingly well executed for a 4 yr old.

Both of my kids love Miss Christine's Art Camp, and it is a really unique program. They spend each session exploring in theme (such as lines, sculpture, opaqueness) and view art in the context of the theme and create an art project based on the theme. The kids learn about art in a much deeper way than just completing art projects. And they feel very home at the de Young. It makes me feel lucky for living in San Francisco.

My daughter adored Art Camp with Miss Christine. She learned an unbelievable amount about artists and the de Young. When we visit the museum as a family, she takes us on the tour, commentary included!

This is a perfect art camp for preschool/pre-K age kids. Miss Christine is a true professional educator and keeps her classes very small. The opportunity for the children to visit the deYoung Museum under supervision of an art teacher, then interpret that art through their own projects makes the experience truly meaningful. It's easy drop off and pick up at the Museum. This camp is way beyond the typical art camp where the kids begin an art project without the inspirational framework Miss Christine provides. Truly a unique program.

My son loves Art Camp with Miss Christine. This is not just a wishy washy art camp where kids learn to doodle and create projects. It is an art camp that actually teaches art history and art appreciation. There are art camps and art camps but to be able to learn the background and history behind each piece of art, to learn about the artist's life and what inspired him/her - now that is truly a unique camp for young children. I wish Miss Christine would start an art camp for older children or even for adults because I am sure there would be demand for something like this too. Ling K

Miss Christine's art camp is truly wonderful. She engages the children on multiple levels, they get to see all aspects of art and the hands on art projects are fun and engaging. My son loves this camp.
